Feature Friday

It’s been a really long time since I’ve done one of these, and although it’s not half of what I have in my inbox, here are a few that stuck out to me!

Kara from The Black Forrist saw my shop update on THIS POST and made her own Valentine’s Day card.  This would also be lovely as an anniversary card!

Rebecca from Better Life Bags showed me her Loyalty Card Holder turned camera holder (I mentioned in my post how perfectly my point and shoot fit in there!).  IMG_0070 copy

Carrie from This Mama Makes Stuff shared her Lunch Money Cuff I posted HERE.  Turned out great, and I love the fabric!

Chris from My Creative Departure made her little girl the Gathered Belt.  I love how it turned out!  I think a large flower would be perfect with these belts!  What a beautiful photo!

Holly, from stitch/craft used the Mad Scientist Gift Idea to make her own gift set.

This last one unfortunately doesn’t have any additional information in flickr, but I recognize that bow tie!  What an adorable photo!!!  HERE is the flickr user who added it to Your Lemon Squeezy Home flickr group

I’ve had a whole lot of sleepover pillowcases, hand sanitizer holders, diaper clutches, bow ties, and even 3 different bike baskets emailed to me as well (an easier version of a bike basket can be found using Anna’s tutorial from Noodlehead HERE).

Thank you so much for sharing!  Feel free to upload your creations using any of my tutorials to the flickr group!

I have two Valentine’s tutorials from last year that I’ll pull out this year.

I’m actually going to be making another pillow cover that has more subtle colors so it’s not so BAM in your face Valentine’s day.  We’ll see if I get around to it as it’s pretty low on my priority list right now!

What are some of your favorite Valentine Day finds? I’d love to check them out!

Feature Friday

It’s been a really long time since I’ve featured anything you’ve made!

If you want to be 100% sure that I’ll see what you make and feature it here on a feature Friday, then upload it to Your Lemon Squeezy Home Flickr Group

If I missed something you’ve shared with me, just add it to the flickr group and I’ll be sure to post it on the next Feature Friday!  Sometimes I just lose emails or think I save them in a folder and then I don’t.  I’m sorry.  It happens (not very often, but sometimes).  **If you have a blog to link to, make sure you let me know and I’ll be sure to link to it!  Either in flickr or in your email to me.**

Rebecca, from Sparklinbecks made the ruffled bubble skirt for her cute little girl.

Gwen, at Gweny Penny used my acorn template to create some fun wall art for Fall.

Depending on how long you’ve followed my blog, you probably saw my Sew Through the Decades Challenge.  Well, good news if you missed out and want to be involved in something similar, because Max from California Max is doing her own Decades Sewing Challenge (just like mine, but focusing more on boy and men’s fashion).  Click here to read what she’s doing.

I wish I knew her name, but I don’t.  The blog is called Crafted by Mama, and she made a cute bike basket.

AND, she made the some hand sanitizer holders as teacher gifts.  Fun fabric choices!

Dianne, from Pencils, Proverbs, Pandomonium, and Pins made a Christmas bow tie for her little guy.  I think the Christmas fabric is great—I might have to make some Christmas ones next year!

Gayle, from The Wood Hen made a hand sanitizer holder for a birthday gift.  The rosette turned out especially nice ;).

Rachel, from Polka Dots and Puppies made some bow ties.  Cute bowties on very cute kids.

Aliza from Seamsoeasy Blog made a money cuff out of a man’s sleeve cuff.  Smart idea!

Jill, from Made it on Monday, made a fun polka dot belt using the Gathered Belt Tutorial.  Cute picture of herself![2011-01-03 010[5].jpg]

Sharon, from This Thrifty House made a bow tie as well.  What an adorable picture!  You can’t help but smile!

Everything looks so great, ladies!  Thanks so much for sharing what you’ve made with me.  It makes me smile :).

Quick Gift Idea

DSCF3921

I have a full tutorial for these tissue pouches here.  They really are so easy and fast to make!  If you are looking for even more gift ideas, visit my tutorials list.

DSCF3919

Today I’m going to show you how to add a strap for a purse.  DSCF3920

I had too much fun with the hand sanitizer holders, I suppose.  One reader also mentioned that they’ll use it for hand lotion.  Great idea!

To add a loop for your tissue pouch, use the normal pieces found in the tissue pouch tutorial.  But to those materials, add a button, and two 8” x 2” pieces of matching fabric.

DSCF3902

To make the strap, place right sides together and sew around the entire thing, except leave one of the ends open.  Clip corners and turn.DSCF3903

Topstitch.  I didn’t even tuck in that unfinished edge, but if that bothers you, then tuck it in while you topstitch so it’s closed off and has a finished edge.DSCF3904

Pin it in the middle of the outer fabric piece and baste just close to the edge so the strap stays in place.DSCF3905

Then fold it and pin so that it’s out of the way of where you’ll be sewing.DSCF3907

Place inner and outer pieces for the tissue pouch right sides together, and finish the pouch by following the rest of the tutorial.DSCF3909

DSCF3910

To finish the strap, sew a buttonhole, then sew on the button (I made sure my thread didn’t go through the other side).  DSCF3911DSCF3918

Done!DSCF3922

I love it when I receive emails or look in the flickr pool and see new things added using my tutorials.  I am going to do a Feature Friday sometime after December.

Want to know the easiest way to share what you’ve done with me?  Upload it to flickr. Emails are wonderful as well, but sometimes I forget to transfer the emails to  my Feature Folder.  Flickr will really guarantee that I won’t forget about it  :).  So if you’ve sent me an email with something you want featured on Feature Friday, add it to flickr as well so that I don’t forget!  ________________________________________________________________________

My $2.00 Scarf, Scarf Love, and a Scarf Linky Party

DSCF3065

While at the Dollar Tree yesterday, I picked up a couple scarves.DSCF3052

I cut up one of them into some strips of varying sizes.DSCF3053

Then I rolled the strips up into those fabric flowers you see everywhere. DSCF3054 DSCF3055

Glued the fabric flowers with fabric glue and hot glue (I really did use both—no reason, just because). DSCF3057

I took some buttons off a jacket that was thrifted.DSCF3059

Glued them onto some of the flowers.DSCF3058
Then glued them onto my scarf.  You could hand-sew them on as well, if you’d rather.DSCF3066
DSCF3065
And there you have it—my mini tutorial for my $2.00 scarf.  Super easy, super quick.

And I’m sure totally unoriginal, but I did it anyways:).

Here are just a few of the scarves I have in my favorites folder that I’d like to make someday.

So let’s see them!  Link to your own tutorial for a scarf (or cowl, or whatever else they call them these days).  You could also link to someone else’s scarf tutorials you have tried or would like to.
